One of our most popular itineraries is a three-day trip from Marrakech to Merzouga. Our fantastic three-day journey will begin in the Moroccan city of Marrakech, one of the country’s most visited and well-known destinations. But along the journey, we’ll see a lot of amazing places you won’t want to miss. The fortified settlement of Ait Benhaddou, or the Kasbahs, will be one of our primary destinations. And then there’s Ouarzazate, where we’ll check out the Atlas Film Studios. You’ll be seeing the Merzouga desert and staying in a Berber tent for the night. After a night in the desert, we’ll go back to Marrakech via a different route to round out the journey.

The schedule for a three day excursion from Marrakech to Merzouga :

Marrakech, Ait Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, Boumalne Dades, Day 1

We’ll pick you up from your hotel or agreed-upon meeting spot to kick off our three-day, two-night desert adventure from Marrakech to Merzouga. To begin, you’ll be passing through the Atlas Mountains, a world-famous mountain range. Your first stop will be in the pass of Tizi nTichka (2260m), where we plan to see several Argan oil cooperatives. Then we’ll keep going until we reach Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its distinctive towers and clay architecture, which makes it an ideal location for filming. We plan to visit this location to take it easy and learn more about it.

The 3 days from Marrakech to Merzouga continues, this time we will take you to enjoy lunch in one of the top restaurants in Ouarzazate. This later is a little similar to the prior one. Atlas Studios is the place to go if you want to produce a movie in Morocco’s Ouallywood or just hire the equipment you need to. Many notable programs and movies have been filmed in this city and Game Of Thrones, Prison Break are the prime examples. We will spend the night in the Dades Gorges after touring the Atlas Studios in Boumalne Dades.

Day 2 : Gorges Dades – Tinghir – Tinjedad – Merzouga :

The second day of your three-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga brings you closer to one of Morocco’s most popular attractions. But before we get there, we’ll stop at some amazing sights. To begin, we plan to travel to Telouat valley. After that, we’ll go to Toudgha, a very special and one-of-a-kind location in all of Morocco, known for its towering canyons (up to 300 meters) and other natural wonders. Secondly, we would drive via Tinjedad and Tinghir, where we would eat lunch and have a break.

Finally, we will travel immediately to Merzouga desert, where you will spend a wonderful desert night. Our nighttime adventure will commence by taking the camels, we will travel across the golden dunes to our luxurious tent. On the way, we will help for sunset, and at our Berber camp, you will be having a wonderful night accompanied by a delicious traditional Berber cuisine. Besides, our camp crew will build fire and perform drums beneath the brilliant stars. We’ve reached the last stop of our second of three days traveling from Marrakech to the desert town of Merzouga.

On the third day, you will travel from Merzouga to Marrakech.

We will return to Merzouga on camel after breakfast at our posh desert camp. Because we are returning to Marrakech, we must depart at an early hour (about 8:00) in the morning. We shall travel using another path passing through Alnif where we would halt and eat lunch in Nkob. To add, we’ll be driving the direct route to Marrakech through the Ait-Saouen pass. Finally, after three days in the desert, we’ll drop you off in the “red city,” Marrakech.

The Medina of Ait Benhaddou

Ait Benhaddou, a ksar or fortified town, is without a doubt one of the most well-known tourist destinations in all of Morocco. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is located on the High Atlas Mountains’ southern slopes. Visit this town to see one of the finest examples of traditional Moroccan clay building. This Ighrem has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1987. Ait Benhaddou has stood for centuries and become a cannot-be-missed attraction, despite its historic structures and the fact that most towns like it have been abandoned. It was also the primary hub for ancient camel-traveling merchants.

Also, contrary to popular belief, Ait Benhaddou is not a ksar. Since a ksar is often not made out of Kasab (Bamboo in English), the more accurate name for this settlement would be a Kasbah.

The fact that this town caters more to Hollywood than to ordinary vacationers is what sets it apart. Various filmmakers, like those behind Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia, have opted to film there because of the city’s spectacular architecture, which includes many structures designed to evoke thrones.

Ouarzazate

The city, much like Ait Benhaddou, is well-known all over the globe because to its use as a filming location.

The Atlas Studios and the Kasbah of Taourirt are the most popular attractions here. Atlas Studios is the primary filming location. A large number of kasbahs may be found in Morocco; estimates range from several hundred to over a thousand. Taourirt Kasbah, erected by the el Glaoui tribe, is one of Morocco’s most extraordinary walled settlements because of its mazelike layout. Despite being one of Morocco’s most stunning Kasbahs, most visitors choose to skip it in favor of the more convenient Atlas Studios.

The Sahara in the region of Merzouga

The highlight of every trip to Morocco should be the country’s desert. The first inhabitants of this area were a family called the Merzoug, from whom we get the name “Merzouga.” Also, Merzouga is separated into numerous distributed settlements, you may hear Hassi Labied, Takojt instead of Merzouga. Moreover, you may hear the phrase Lala Merzouga, which is referring to the greatest Erg sand dune. Not to note, there are 12 areas in Morocco, Merzouga is situated in the region of Draa Tafilalet. Plus, it is in the province of the magnificent city Errachidia. In the recent years, Merzouga became an unmissed destination for travelers since it is recognized for its golden dunes and pleasant people. The major income of its people is all about tourism that is why they offer their best to maintain it a clean and safe location.

Merzouga provides a combination of great activities and sights that you may do and see. The first is the most famous—the one with the camels and the desert of riches. This is the most booked activity of all outside of glamping in the desert beneath the bright stars. And there are plenty of other things to do in the desert than riding quads and buggies. You’ll need to take a 4×4 or camel trip of the Merzouga desert if you want to get to know the Sahara in any detail, however. There are still Berber nomads who live in tents, as well as Gnawa people and Oases… Many thrill-seekers ride camels for a day or two and camp out in the wilderness overnight as part of a circuit.

On day 3 of our Marrakech itinerary, we’ll be visiting several local cooperatives.

It’s no secret that climbers from all over the world go to Morocco’s Todra or Toudgha Gorges. The canyons, which are divided by a river and reach heights of roughly 300 meters, are very popular. The local Berbers often bring their herd to the spring to drink. People from all around the region visit Todra, so it’s not only a popular tourist spot.
